One DIrection... to Summer Happiness

I recently bought some apparel in Penshoppe during their pre-summer sale.  I was with my grade schooler niece and guess what?  She was not interested in any of the candy-colored tank tops.  She was just in a corner staring at the giant poster covering one wall of the store.  Frozen, wide-eyed, and with what seemed to be a smile terminating in both ears plastered on her face, I thought, "this is it"!  It's the key to rectifying hyperactive children.  LOL!

Con Te Partiro (Time To Say Goodbye) by Joe McElderry

The year was 1999.  The song was Con Te Partiro.  The hotel was the Bellagio.  It was not a tryst but a distant memory of an otherworldly time I was introduced to Andrea Bocelli's sad, haunting, and soulful song - Con Te Partiro.

The World Towards One Direction

Who would have thought that 5 losers (oh no, fans are gonna cuss and blurt profanity at me; let me finish the statement, ok?) would trek into that one direction towards success!  LOL.  Okay, ONE DIRECTION is one hot boy band.  They are so popular that they are being featured left and right in different local programs here in the Philippines.  I know for sure that this British 5-member boy band is so popular because I have one, no make that two, accurate indicators of popularity - my 5-year old niece and my 8-year old nephew.  They can sing ONE THING without batting an eyelash.  It's crazy!  The British has invaded Filipino homes.

Niall James Horan (18 y.o.), Zain Javadd "Zayn" Malik (19 y.o.), Liam James Payne (18 y.o.), Harry Edward Styles (18 y.o.), and Louis William Tomlinson (20 y.o.) make up ONE DIRECTION.  They were former solo contestants of the 2010 edition of X Factor and failed on their bid.  They then formed a group and entered X Factor again.  That time they made all the way to third place.  After that everything is history.  The group took the music industry by storm with their first album released in November 2011, Up All Night, landed on the number one spot in the 2012 U.S.  Billboard 200.  It is indeed an amazing feat reminiscent of the Beatle's "British Invasion" of America.

It's not only young girls screaming at the top of their lungs when they see ONE DIRECTION on TV.  Mothers and groovy grandmas apparently are also going gaga over the group.  One local TV program featured the boy band and their Filipino fans.  There's one mother and daughter tandem fans who goes to Hong Kong and Singapore just so they could buy ONE DIRECTION merchandise.  Merchandise? Yeah, imagine ONE DIRECTION bed sheet.  OMG!

Here's ONE THING by ONE DIRECTION.  I checked it out.  It sure is cutesy-cutesy.  The tune is quite catchy.  Enjoy.
